CD Single #3: "Oasis"

The 100th anniversary concert [1] was successfully done. Now that I think about it, we only had 9 songs at that time! I really felt sorry for the audience. But everybody gave it their best.

This song was confidently released in the year 2000, and it even had a fancy TV commercial. But once again, it did bad on the music charts. And yet...we kept getting a larger street audience. From this song on, Mr. Seiji Kameda started with our musical arrangement. I heard that the day before he started, he heard DAI over the radio...then he called and asked about DAI.

Mr. Kameda was a very hardworking guy. Under his supervision, our music style suddenly became rock music that went under compression. Around that same time, our recording engineer changed (even now, we still use the same engineer; his name is Tsuyoshi Inoue). Ryo was very happy now, and played even more comfortably and freely.

The album (Break of Dawn) was under progress at this time, too. We booked 3 rooms in the recording studio and we recorded music crazily as if we were possessed. But whenever it was 10 PM, we would still go to Shibuya. The hell-like schedule at that time psychologically affected Ryo, even 'til this day.

Van finished the lyrics under the supervision of the executive producer. Whenever we were performing in the streets or on TV, the 3 of them always performed "Oasis". This was a magical time when we didn't know if we were on the right track or not.

Song Note
[1] When Do As Infinity was still trying to become famous, they gave free concerts. Their 100th, free, live concert was called "FREE LIVE 100". (^^) This is one of their most memorable concerts. Years later, several songs recorded from "FREE LIVE 100" would be placed on their albums.
