CD Single #6: "We are."

This is the only song that was produced entirely by the band members, as we were unable to fix an appointment with Seiji Kameda. The sudden change to 3 beats in the song, which is the hallmark of Dai Nagao's composition, is no easy feat. To this day, bands who attempt to cover the song have problems copying the arrangement.

This song also marks the last time Dai Nagao played his double-neck, 12-string guitar. After the New Year's Eve concert (which was held at Velfarre), Dai no longer participated in the band's promotional activities. He made this decision because he wanted to concentrate more on song-writing. Performances -- and interviews from the media -- were a headache to him, as he prefers to focus on his work in the recording studio. The sudden change to two members one year after making their debut was a big problem indeed...

The PV was shot with a Christmas theme, and with the help of fans and supporters. The filming was done using an overhead video camera at the top of a skyscraper in Harumi, Tokyo. Once DAI had decided to do it this way, they gave it their best shot.

The song was mixed by Seiji Kameda. The overall feeling of the song was unbelievable. The cover photo [of the CD single] was shot in Takanawa, in August. The band members had to wear sweaters in the sweltering heat of the summer, as the single was projected to be released during the Christmas season. Even though the leaves on the trees were still green, we had decided to go ahead with the photo shoot. Van's lyrics is most suitable for songs with such grandiosity.

By the way, at this time we also decided that the single's B-side, "new world", would be the title track of the new album, as it was really well done. The will to carry on despite Dai Nagao's departure was evident.
