Recording of the song was completed at the same time as the "Deep Forest" album.

We finished recording "Hi no Ataru Sakamichi" and the "Deep Forest" album around the same time. However, we left the song out of the album, and decided to wait for a more suitable time for its release. The melody of the song suggests that it's more suited for release in spring, hence its omission from "Deep Forest".

This is the theme song for the Japanese Drama "Hatsu-taiken". It was real coincidence to work with Miki Mizuno (the lead actress on "Hatsu-taiken"), and then work with her a year later for the drama "Koibumi" (the theme song for that drama is "Hiiragi").

This is the first time since "Yesterday & Today" that Ryo displays his catchy guitar solo in a ballad. It's definitely worth listening to! The lyrics were written by Van. That same time, their first "best collection" album ("Do The Best") was also released. In fact, the cover for "Do the Best" and "Hi no Ataru Sakamichi" were actually shot on the same day. By the way, thank you everyone for your support! "Do the Best" sold 1.2 million copies!!

In the midst of our joy, we couldn't resist placing a one page, "Thank you everyone!" advertisement in the newspaper. There were people who were for (and against) releasing a "best collection" album, since we only had 3 albums at that time. But I thought it was a very good idea. In the production aspect, it helped to demarcate the works of a particular period. Most importantly, more people became aware of Do As Infinity as a band, and it opened the door of opportunity for DAI to engage in interesting collaborations. But the atmosphere at DAI's production unit and among the band members always remained the same. It all feels very much like a student organization (like the type you'd find in K-12 schools and colleges).

For the "Hi no Ataru Sakamichi" PV, the props unit made a sakura tree. It's so beautiful! However, the horse that we brought along was really naughty...it just couldn't stay still. We'd gotten a real headache over the little horsey. I swear I will not be using animals next time!
