     Salinde and I would like to apologize for the randomness of this song. (XD) But 99% of it is the original lyrics' fault!! We were also debating about the whole "Johnny - Fanny - Mary" parts, 'cuz I thought Van was singing "Journey - Funny - Merry", but Salinde pointed out that the katakana would be different. But still. >_<

     ...Anyway, I left Salinde's translation the way it was.

Salinde also said this:
     "I wish they [the lyrics] made more sense, but the Japanese itself is pretty ambiguous. There are a lot of songs like that, unfortunately...I call them 'cubist'/Picasso songs. ...Personally, I've learned to take all the randomness of song lyrics in stride, since a lot of them are so whimsical as to defy logical interpretation. 'Fanny of the May showers' would be a literal interpretation (presuming that she is talking about a person and not 'funny').

     The tone [of the lyrics] would be a carefree/relaxed optimism. The singer feels she (and/or someone) is in a bit of a limbo, but she's not too frustrated about it and is encouraging herself (and/or the other person) to take initiative in life."


[1] Aside from the live albums, this song was ONLY released on "Do The Best". I'm thinking this is why: the song was specifically written for a LaVenus (hair care products) commercial, and was probably considered such a minor song that it wasn't released on a CD single. But...the song and commercial became so popular that they decided to release it on their "Do The Best" album.

[2] The kanji actually wrote the letter "e", which sounds like (and is written) in romaji as "ii". They used the pun for...creative reasons. XD
