The colors of the setting sun dyes the sky,
Shining upon the great earth.
I turn towards the vast blue sky; [1]
Time passes quickly.

In the shadow of the setting sun,
This daydream of vain hope is sketched.
When the truth has reached an end,
This daydream is brought into reality.

Don't give up trying,
Return to your origins.
As long as there is life, I will keep trying. [2]
Even if it is a trivial matter,
I'll delightfully take on any risks.

Precisely, this sort of independence
Oftentimes hurts and scars me. [3]
Even if I will lose all the beauty around me,
This True Song
Will flow ceaselessly within my heart.

These quarrels
Continue to linger on.
Treasure the present;
The present is very precious. [4]

It needs your effort;
You will lose your way if you don't try.
Even if it is just that smile,
I'll always remember that smile.

No matter how dark it becomes,
Hopefulness is eternal.
When will these feelings of pain fade-away?
In my present state,
I am no longer simple-minded.

Dreaming of the past,
Looking forward to the bright future.
Someday, I will arrive at this destination --
This true song,
Will flow ceaselessly within my heart.

No matter how dark is becomes,
Hopefulness is eternal.
When will these feelings of pain fade-away?
This True Song,
Will flow ceaselessly within my heart.

In my present state,
I am no longer simple-minded.
Even if it is merely a trivial matter, [5]
I'll delightfully face any risks!
This true song,
Will flow ceaselessly within my heart.
Translator's Notes:
[!!] (from Oasis Heart3): First, "pinyin" is Chinese "romaji". =)

     Second...depending on the situation/context of the sentence, "Shinjitsu no Uta" can be translated as "Song of Truth" or..."True Song" (*wink*wink*).

     Also, I tried finding the lyricist for the Chinese version, but everything listed the person(s) as "D.A.I." (as opposed to their individual names). I'm not sure if anyone in the group speaks Chinese...but what I think happened is this: some people in Avex probably translated the lyrics to Chinese, and Van sang from the lyrics. Avex Taiwan, for instance, has been known to translate their lyrics to Chinese and print them in CD booklets for their Overseas releases...so it's possible that the same thing happened with "Shinjitsu no Uta (Mandarin Version)".

     Also, WOW. Is it just me, or does the Chinese version seem deeper? Which is odd, because I SWEAR, Chinese only has like, 10 sounds. I'm surprised they can even form sentences. XD; (by the way, you can view the original Japanese lyrics here)

     And in case you can't tell, I'm not too familiar with Chinese (^^;) So I broke up the verses based on Van's pauses in the song. Also, the people who translated and "romanized" these lyrics made it easy for me to do (they'd capitalize certain words, which let me know that I should make that a new line...or they'd add commas -- probably to break up the lines in each verse, etc.)

     Anyways, if I broke things up badly, please understand why. If you have any corrections to make, please email me and let me know!!!

[1] This literally means "blue expanse".

[2] This line really means "Don't commit suicide".

[3] (from Oasis Heart3) "Wounds" was originally written here, but for some reason, that looked...odd with the rest of the words, so I switched it with "hurts". It means the same thing. ^^

[4] This line really means, "How long do we have to continue these unnecessary quarrels; don't take things for granted".

[5] (from Oasis Heart3) the rest of the verses follow a certain line scheme...but I had to ruin that scheme with this last verse, because two of the lines were REALLY long and that would cause printer problems. x_x;
