Welcome to the Lyrics FAQ section! (^^) This is where I attempt to answer questions about lyrics. Many of the questions were written by me, but you can also submit questions
. All you have to do is
.
Below is a list of all the questions available. You can click on the questions to jump around, or manually scroll down the page. =)
Why did you stop making "text versions" of lyrics?
I stopped because it was harder for me to create
(and update) text files, especially if they had Song Notes
(so I had to manually break each line up, so the text file wouldn't scroll horizontally). Plus HTML looks better, and since I got rid of text lyrics, I now have a bit more storage space on this website
(and on my computer). ^^

I only want the romaji (or translation). What should I do?
Just copy/paste what you want. The romaji and translation are in separate columns, so you shouldn't have any problems. =)

Why don't you post kanji lyrics?
Because Japan is a crazy country, and one of their copyright companies (JASRAC) is notorious for prosecuting sites that post "illegal" kanji lyrics. Yes, I said "illegal". In order to post kanji lyrics, you need to have a license, which of course costs money. A LOT of money.
Over the years, I've heard that JASRAC has slacked up with their rules
(i.e.: they either got too lazy to prosecute sites, or they realized how hard it is to watch EVERY website in existence), so a few brave sites do post kanji lyrics. But I prefer not to take that risk.

Where can I find kanji lyrics?
If you want kanji lyrics, try "legal" sites like
UtaMap,
Uta-Net and
Goo Music. There are other sites you can try too...but if you want a more detailed list of sites, please go to any of the sub-sites here
(ex: Tomiko Van's site) and click on the "Links" section.
If all else fails, try searching for a forum or LiveJournal group that specializes in lyrics. If you politely ask for help, someone might have the lyrics you're looking for. (^^) You can also try typing some of the lyrics by ear
(assuming you have a Japanese kanji program, like NJStar or JWPce) and search Google Japan for lyrics. Or you can hire a Japanese expert like
Megchan to listen to the song and type the lyrics for you.
Lastly...you could buy the actual CD and
(usually) get the lyrics there. xD

You only posted a few Ayumi Hamasaki/Kumi Koda/etc. lyrics. Where can I find more?
Yes, I did post a few of their lyrics in Dai Nagao's "Other Works" section. Unfortunately, I only posted the lyrics that are related to this site...but I
also posted links to some of their best fan sites...so try searching there for lyrics. You should also try
Google too; you might find something if you keep looking and sifting through results. ^_^
If you still can't find what you're looking for, then try
Megchan,
Kiwi Musume and
quartet4's sites. Their translation websites are HUGE, and they're
excellent/FLUENT translators.
If you only want the romaji, then I highly recommend you go to
Corichan's site. Her site is one of the biggest romaji sites in the world, and she did most of the lyrics herself!
By the way:
you can also request lyrics at Megchan, Kiwi Musume, quartet4 AND Corichan's websites!!

Are some of the words spelled incorrectly ("realise" instead of "realize", etc.)?
In most cases, these words are spelled using British English
(i.e., some of the translators are from the UK, New Zealand, Australia, etc). So you'll see some minor differences in spelling: "reali
se" vs. "reali
ze"; "colo
ur" vs. "color"...
Sometimes there MIGHT be a mistake, though. So if you want, feel free to
email me and ask. :)
