  • What was Ryo doing after Do As Infinity broke up?
  • Ryo created his own rock band called "Missile Innovation", which has three members. (^^) He also collaborated with other artists (usually by playing his guitar, but sometimes he provided background vocals). On occasion, everyone in Missile Innovation will collaborate with an artist (example: when they were the backup band for AAA's live performances).

  • What is "Missile Innovation"?
  • Missile Innovation is a rock band that Ryo Owatari created back in 2003 (when Do As Infinity went on hiatus). There are 3 members:

    1. Ryo Owatari - The lead singer. He's also the guitarist, and writes the lyrics.
    2. Yoshiyasu Hayashi - The bassist. He also sings backup along with his twin brother, Hisayoshi.
    3. Hisayoshi Hayashi - The drummer, although he also sings backup.
All three members were once in a band called pee-ka-boo. ^_^

  • Why are they called "Missile Innovation"?
  • I honestly don't know. But if they ever reveal the truth, I'll be sure to let you know.

  • Is there a nickname for "Missile Innovation"?
  • I don't know if there's an official nickname, but a lot of people just abbreviate the name as "MI". I do know that group members have nicknames/stage names, or at least they did when they were in pee-ka-boo. Hisayoshi was called "A-nny" (short for "aniki", which means "older brother"), and Yoshiyasu was called "Oto-to" (alternate spelling for "ototo", which means "younger brother"). Ryo was called...well, "Ryo". His name has 3 letters; there's no need for a nickname. xD

  • Is anyone in Missile Innovation married, or dating right now?
  • I'm not sure about the twins, but Ryo IS married. He's been married for years, and he has a daughter.

[ back to FAQ List ]

  • How many albums/singles have they released?
  • As of December 2008, Missile Innovation has released 1 album, 1 mini-album, and 2 singles.

  • Where can I buy Missile Innovation merchandise?
  • There are tons of online stores that sell their merchandise. But I highly recommend YesAsia (their prices are low, their selection is large, and the shipping costs are low for people outside of Asia). You can also try CDJapan, Amazon and iTunes. If you want used items, there's an area in DAIForum called Aisle 3. Be sure to check it out! You can also go to eBay for used merchandise.

  • Where can I download [insert song here]?
  • I highly recommend you buy their CDs. However, you can sample their songs (and download several songs, in low-quality WMA format) on this site.

  • Why don't you have a picture gallery here?
  • There's no need for me to offer pictures. There's already a TON of other sites doing this. Not to mention there's Google Images. ^^

However, I do post some pictures here (mostly CD covers and profile pictures). But I do have a few "hard-to-find" photos, such as the credits page[s] from each CD.

  • Why do you post WMAs on this site?
  • I want people to hear the full songs, because sometimes the MP3 samples don't capture the beauty of the full song.

But I also want people to buy the actual CDs, which is why:

    1. I will never post every song they've made.
    2. I will never post new songs.
    3. I only post low-quality songs on the site. WMAs sound "less fuzzy" than low-quality MP3s (and I do want you to hear the song as best as possible). Plus WMAs are usually a bit smaller in size, which is why I use this format.
    4. I know people might not have a lot of money, so I mentioned a lot of low-cost shopping methods...including YesAsia and used CD sites (like eBay).
I buy CDs, and you should too. We need to support these artists; otherwise they won't continue to make music. Missile Innovation might make a comeback if people buy more of their CDs!

I'll only list high quality downloads for pee-ka-boo, because their CDs are out of print and hard to find...and I seriously doubt the band will ever reunite.

  • What is "pee-ka-boo"?
  • pee-ka-boo (which is written in all lowercase) was a rock band that Ryo Owatari and the twins were in. This group was around before Do As Infinity existed. The band consisted of vocalist Kouji Shimamura, Ryo Owatari, and the Hayashi brothers -- Hisayoshi and Yoshiyasu -- who are twins.

The group also had supporting staff members: Akira Murata played keyboard; Susume Nishikawa did the song arrangements; Takashi Kobayashi was the lyricist; and Shinji Kobayashi was the composer. (I'm not sure if Takashi and Shinji are related, but there's a good chance they are.)

Sadly, pee-ka-boo only released 4 singles (and one promotional CD) in 1998. Later that same year, they either broke up or went on indefinite hiatus.

  • What happened to everyone when pee-ka-boo disbanded?
  • As you may already know, three of pee-ka-boo's members (i.e.: Ryo, and the twins) went on to form "Missile Innovation", another rock band. Akira Murata still plays keyboard for them occasionally. ^_^

The fourth official member of "pee-ka-boo", Kouji, is now in a band called "The BARFLYS". This might be why he didn't rejoin the others. As for Susume, Takashi and Shinji...I'm not sure what happened to them.

  • Is there a nickname for "pee-ka-boo"?
  • There sure is! On most of their CDs, the group was abbreviated as "pkb".

Three of the members also had nicknames in the group. Hisayoshi was called "A-nny" (short for "aniki", which means "older brother"), and Yoshiyasu was called "Oto-to" (alternate spelling for "ototo", which means "younger brother"). Kouji's nickname was "KOZI". Ryo never had a nickname, probably because his real name was already short and it didn't have a pun. xD

  • Where can I buy pee-ka-boo merchandise?
  • pee-ka-boo CDs are no longer in print, and they're extremely hard to find. But you might find some CDs on eBay and other auction sites.

[ back to FAQ List ]

  • Where can I download [insert song here]?
  • Because their CDs are VERY hard to find, I've decided to be nice...

You can download their FULL CDs directly off this site. (^^) The CDs are in good quality, MP3 format -- and I've included scans!!

[ back to FAQ List ]

  • Why don't you have a picture gallery here?
  • There are very few pictures of pee-ka-boo, but I did manage to find some magazine articles (including interviews). In the very near future I will post these articles online...so you can see and have them for yourself!! :D
